Easter = chocolate!

April this year was especially quiet what with Easter AND a royal wedding all in the same month. But here are one or two things I got up to, to keep me ticking over.

Thursday 14th I got the train down toReading for a workshop at HMP young offenders. I was a bit apprehensive before the day started but what a fantastic, eye opening experience that turned out to be. I loved every second of it and I believe the young men did too. Some seriously inspiring, touching and personal pieces came from that workshop and I hope to get the poems on my website in the future. They all had the talent and capability so I just hope they use that to help better the rest of their lives!

Friday 15th I was at the MAC for another workshop getting me ready for the ‘lit fuse’ performance the next day! On the night time I was fighting. And again, I won.

Saturday 16th I was at the MAC tying up loose ends for my performance later on in the evening. It was pretty much a full house and thank you to every body that turned up. I loved it!

Monday the 21st of March (which was national children’s poetry day) I was at Hazel Oak School in Shirley getting their young people to write poems around the theme of ‘horizon.’ These poems were for a competition and I have since been informed that 5 of their pupils have made the final so a massive well done to them! I’m chuffed to bits for them.

Thursday 24th I was at Chandos Primary School performing for all juniors and then holding a workshop with year 6s. I’m back to do a slam with them in June.

Friday 25th I was back in Telford holding another workshop at John Randall.

Sunday 27th I was at the MAC all day taking part in a workshop to get me ready for the ‘lit fuse’ performance on the 16th of April. Following that workshop I drove down to Wycombe to perform at a slam there.

It starts at 7.30pm and we will finish about half 8/9. SEE YOU THERE!

Monday the 24th of January I started the week off holding a workshop at Haybridge High School in Hagley working with year 7’s and 8’s. All students came up to the front performed their poems so I hope they enjoyed the day!

Tuesday the 25th I’m heading over to Four Dwellings High School to hold 2 workshops with 80 kids and a workshop with some of the guys at the flip centre.

Thursday 27th I’m back at Haybridge getting the students to write around the theme of ‘identity’

Friday the 28th in the afternoon I’m at the MAC in cannon hill with Bright Space so if you’re free please come and pop your face in. I’ll be there from half 12. Then on the night time it’s the final to find Worcestershire’s first ever Young Poet Laureate. What a cracking night that will be.

And to finish the week off on the 29th I’m doing a little 10 minute performance at a youth service event just to get the audience nice and relaxed before their fab day begins!

So here it is. The final date of my first tour is now here. It doesn’t seem like 5 minutes since we were kicking off in Newcastle. But it’s actually been 2 months and now the last gig is upon us. In Birmingham! My home city. Lets hope the place is buzzing to get our spoken word artists really in the mood.

There’s 4 amazing poets (and myself) performing at the MAC (Midlands Art Centre) in Cannon Hill Park, B12 9QH on Thursday the 9th of December and you’re all invited! Please come and check it out and enjoy some spoken word greatness.

Tickets are £5 if you are 16 or below. 60 or above or a university student. If you are non of those and you can’t blag it then tickets are £7.

The performances start at 7.30pm so please if you could be there for 7pm that would be ace!

I hope to see you tomorrow and lets hope there are many more tours to come in the future!

Speak up!!!

Are you ready? No seriously. Are you ready? For the biggest speak up EVERRRR! When I say big, I mean massive! Established acts include Eva Lazarus, Ed Sheeran, Alex Gwyther, Polarbear and Scroobius Pip.

Hosted by the amazing Jodi Ann Bickley. Even though it’s her baby, she didn’t quite want to go it alone so her partner in rhyme (me) is popping on stage to help her out. Hanging out with us and playing some music on stage will also be Joe Girvan.

It’s at the Hare & Hounds pub in Kings Heath and if you live in or any where near Birmingham you need to get to this event! Tickets nearly sold out though so you better be quick! Look forward to seeing you there.

If you can’t make this event please do come to my final tour date this Thursday the 9th of December at the Midlands Art Centre (MAC) in Cannon Hill Park. Tickets if you are 16 or below, 60 or above or a university student are £5. £7 for any body else. There are 4 other amazing spoken word artists on from across England so please come and check it out!!!
